Genres I Would Like to Research

With my pitch being a movie that leans to the more mysterious, spooky, and dark side of film making, it seems appropriate that the genres to consider for it would be thriller, horror, or genre. It all depends on what part of the plot fill be focused on and how we want the story to come across, since all these genres, though similar, all have different ways of being produced. All of these points contributing to the final film's end result will be needed to be considered by me and my partner in order to decide which genre holds our vision.

For a thriller movie, the kidnapping aspect of the film would be highlighted. This is due to the fact that thriller movies tend to lean towards a more action, motion-based film. I would consider this genre if that was the vision we were leaning too. To film this, in order for the suspense-based aspects of the thriller genre to shine through, the plot would need to build more slowly, allowing questions to build in the audience's mind. Then, in the scenes before the resolution, the tempo will pick up. This is one of my favorite genres due to how entertaining and deep they can be. They can mix many different moods since they are usually based on things that could happen in real life. I do feel like there are risks to filming thriller movies. The directors need to. make sure they are able to make the audience sitting at the corner of their chairs.

For a horror movie, the ambiance would be darker and way jumpier. Meaning that more sharp changes will occur in order to shock the audience. The leading up to the climax the plot will travel with medium speed until... BOOM! A sudden event will spiral down the rest of the plot. We would choose this genre if that is how we see the movie playing out. This is also one of my favorite genres of filming. I love when directors can leave the audience with the sunken feeling in their gut from the rushes of adrenaline. If you cant capture these feelings from the audience, it can leave you with a bad film.

For a drama movie, the movie would be more based on interactions between the characters, in order to create the drama. Drama movies, to me, seem more unrealistic due to the dramatized interaction and backstories between characters. However, they are still catchy and interesting to watch, which would be a reason as to why it could be a good option. Out of all the options, this once is my least favorite genre to watch. However, after researching it, it could be fit for the mood my partner and I are going for.

I'm not going to count anything out until I have done more research.
