Costumes and Props

  Alex and I delegated the props and costumes we will be using for our film. For the opening scene, we did not have many things we needed to purchase. We wanted to keep the colors of their outfits simple and neutral. Colors like navy, white, black, and grey will all be utilized to maintain the film's neutral color palette. In the opening scene, Kayla will be wearing navy while Elle is wearing white and black. As the scene progresses to indoors. Household items will be used as props to set the home. We are using a location that is already furnished, which makes that aspect simple. As Elle moves into her room, a melatonin bottle and a vase will be used as props. I can bring these items from home since I already have them in my possession. For Elle's nighttime outfit, she will change into something more comfortable.   Critical Reflection Questions How do your products represent social groups or issues? Our film, “Deception” lays into the ideas of complicity in our society. We all seem to just go along with everything around us without challenging anything. In our film, Alex and I wanted to make the audience step back, and think about how they are living their lives. Are they just playing into the illusion of control like our main character, Elle, or are they breaking boundaries and trying to go the extra step to living a unique life. At the end of our film, it is shown that Elle’s whole life was just a simulation being run by scientists, which is how Alex and I feel people are going about their lives now. How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’? Story Board for Short Film

Storyboarding is an essential part of filmmaking. It's basically a plan that lays out exactly how the movie is going to be filmed. From shots to certain lighting, a storyboard will make it simple when it comes to actually getting to business. My partner and I decided the best way to efficiently create the storyboard would be to split the work into two. I took the first half of the film, and she took the second. Before creating the storyboards, however, we had a meeting to discuss techniques that we wanted to implement. Once we were on the same page about how we were going to construct the film, we both got to work. While creating, we were always checking in to make sure we were both on track to create the most optimal storyboard we could.
